The NiSi Nano Hard Edge Infrared IRND filter darkens specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing normal and unaffected exposure to other areas of the image. The filter is denser at the edge and shrinks to disengage from the middle, with a sharply sharp transition line between dense and light areas. Neutral density filters do not affect the color of the image. This filter is usually used when the separation between the luminous and dark areas of the scene is very defined, such as the line of the horizon or the boundary between sea level and sky.
The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to favor almost flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. To provide a high level of neutrality on visible and infrared spectra to eliminate color casting and ensure cleaner, cleaner blacks when using the NiDi Hard-Edge Graduated IRND filter, a layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of these surfaces of the filter.
