Built according to the original production documents and schematics of the classic design, the U 47 fet Collector's Edition Condenser Microphone from Neumann is a re-release of this often-copied microphone. A transistorized version of their tube U 47, the U 47 fet features their classic K 47 capsule and boasts a high SPL handling, and has historically found itself at home outside of a kick drum and in front of loud guitar and bass amps, contributing greatly to recordings from the 1960s and 70s. Like the original, there is a slight boost in frequency response around 2 kHz.
The mic features the same low-cut filter as the original at 140 Hz, as well as the selectable -10 dB pad. For additional attenuation, there is a -6 dB output switch, allowing you to hit your mic preamps at a lower level.
